In Nagoya, Japan, the Chicago Powdered Metal Products Japan Engineering Support Office has reached its first major milestone. One year ago, on August 6, 2007, Chicago Powdered Metal Products opened their Japanese Engineering Support Office. Located in the Meieki area of Nagoya near the Nagoya train station, the Engineering Support Office was opened to add an additional support structure in Asia for their Asian customers. This office provides a communications link with the Japanese customers for a rapid response to Engineering and Purchasing questions. The need for this was seen as the requests and need for technical assistance was increasing from the customer locations in Japan. The office opened with a fanfare in Nagoya by meeting with the Governor of Aichi Prefecture on the day after the grand opening.
In the months following the grand opening, Chicago Powdered Metal Products saw an immediate increase as to the amount of assistance that the office needed to provide to their customers in Japan. Now, one year later, the office is key for the follow up on the communications in the USA as well as providing the link to the engineers and managers that were not able to be present in the USA meetings. Initial introductions that the Japan Office has provided have been essential with customers in Japan to start discussions in the USA.
Chicago Powdered Metal Products Japan Office is staffed currently by Max Kataoka, the Manager of the Japan Branch. His knowledge and experience have been crucial to the growth that we have seen in the Japan Office.
The next year proves to be an interesting one with increased activities with the customers, the coordination of a technical show to take to the customers, and the preparation for participation in the next MEMA JAMA show.
We look forward to the upcoming year with great anticipation and hope that our customers can make usage of the improved communications and assistance that the one year older Japan Office provides.
